Intent for Mathematics

At PPS, we are committed to fostering a love of mathematics from the very start of a child’s learning journey. We believe that every child can become a confident, fluent mathematician who enjoys exploring numbers, patterns, and problem-solving.

From Early Years onwards, we provide rich opportunities for children to develop secure number sense and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through practical, hands-on experiences. These foundations enable children to recall key facts, calculate fluently, and apply their knowledge with confidence.

Our carefully planned curriculum connects mathematical learning to real-life contexts, helping children see the purpose and power of maths in everyday life. Through engaging and purposeful activities, we encourage curiosity, resilience, and determination.

We strive to develop mastery by enabling children to reason mathematically, explain their thinking, and solve problems creatively. By exploring concepts in depth and making connections, children grow into confident, articulate mathematicians who are prepared for the challenges of the future.
