    Intent for Science

At PPS, we aim to spark curiosity and a love of science from the very beginning of a child’s learning journey. We provide a rich and engaging science curriculum that encourages children to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop a sense of wonder about the world around them.

From Early Years and KS1 onwards, children experience hands-on, practical investigations that build on their natural curiosity and prior learning. Our curriculum is carefully planned to broaden their scientific understanding and respect for the environment, while promoting a love of enquiry and discovery.

We want our pupils to see the relevance of science in everyday life and to develop skills that will stay with them into the future. Through progressive teaching of Working Scientifically skills, children learn to plan and carry out investigations independently, use scientific equipment accurately, record and interpret data, and explain their findings with confidence using precise scientific vocabulary.

At PPS, science is more than a subject—it is a way of thinking, exploring, and understanding the world.
